October is National Orthodontic Health Month!

Happy October! For those who don't know, it's National Orthodontic Health Month. This month-long event is organized by our pals at the American Association of Orthodontists, or AAO.

Dr. Charles Ruff and our team realize that this is a great opportunity for us to raise awareness about the importance of oral hygiene. National Orthodontic Health Month also aims to recognize the dedicated work of orthodontists like Dr. Ruff and other dental professionals.

The AAO recommends patients avoid the following Halloween treats, or recipes with these ingredients:

• Caramel
• Nuts
• Popcorn (including un-popped kernels)
• Taffy
• Jelly beans
• Hard pretzels
• Licorice
• Bubblegum
• Taco chips
• Ice

If you have any questions, please feel free to give us a call, ask us on Facebook or ask Dr. Ruff during your visit this month!

Dr. Ruff announces our Great Halloween Candy Buyback!

Dr. Ruff and team are excited to announce our National Orthodontic Health Month event, The Great Halloween Candy Buyback. Trick or treating is fun, but it's no good for your teeth or braces. That's why Dr. Ruff would like to buy back your candy this year!

For every pound of candy that you bring in to our office, Dr. Ruff will pay you $1. We will also be donating all of the candy, as well as toothbrushes, to our troops through Operation Gratitude.

The Candy Buyback will take place Thursday, Nov. 4th between 4:30- 6:00pm. There will also be a drawing for prizes, the opportunity to meet local troops, tour a Hummer, send notes to our servicemen, and you will get a goody bag!

Dr. Ruff and our team look forward to seeing all of our patients at The Great Halloween Candy Buyback! As always, don't hesitate to give us a call if you have any questions, or if you would like to schedule a consultation.

October is National Orthodontic Health Month

Can you believe October is already upon us? October happens to be National Orthodontic Health Month, and this month-long event is organized by our friends at the American Association of Orthodontists, or AAO.

Many treats can cause havoc for trick-or-treaters who are going through orthodontic treatment, and these treats may cause damage that could prolong your treatment time. The AAO recommends patients avoid the following Halloween treats, or recipes with these ingredients:

• Caramel
• Nuts
• Popcorn (including un-popped kernels)
• Taffy
• Jelly beans
• Hard pretzels
• Licorice
• Bubblegum
• Taco chips
• Ice

If you happen to damage your braces, please give Dr. Ruff and our staff a call immediately. Typically, small problems can be solved over the phone. Loose brackets or wires can usually be made more comfortable by applying some wax until the you can come into our office.
